Intercultural Development for Leaders
The Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) is a valid, reliable instrument measuring people's basic orientations toward cultural differences.
The following process will be employed:
- Initial two hour group session with instructions on Intercultural Competence and administration of the IDI.
- One hour "Confidential" context interview for each of the leaders.
- Two hour group feedback on the IDI and instructions on ways to approach intercultural issues. Additionally, facilitate discussions on current issues faced by leaders.
- One hour "Confidential" individual feedback session for each leader with coaching regarding individual development action plans.
- Availability for coaching regarding implementation of action plans.
Individuals will be exposed to the Development Model for Intercultural Sensitivity (DMIS)* and the stages on the continuum moving from ethnocentric to ethnorelative thus generating greater intercultural sensitivity and the potential for more intercultural competence.
Participants will be able to map out their own development plan for cultural sensitivity based on the results of the IDI.
